During the past thirty years, Belovo S.A. has acquired a solid international reputation in Egg Science & Technology for its range of highly functional and healthy egg powders (egg albumen powder, whole egg powder and egg yolk powder), its portfolio of fine egg chemicals (Lysozyme, Avidin, Ovotransferrin, Phospholipids) and its successful transfer of technology to international partners. Among major recent successes recorded by the Company are the International launch of Columbus Eggs.

Our missions in the following activities:

  • Table Eggs: To design health-promoting eggs and to supply them globally through partnership and co-branding.
  • Egg Products: To outsource manufacture of world standard egg products to international partners and to concentrate on unique specialties in Europe.
  • Trading: To trade eggs and egg products from and to world's major producers and consumers.
  • Chemicals: To develop new concepts and products for food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications, to extract active ingredients from eggs.
  • Engineering: To promote in house expertise in technology-demanding countries and to develop innovative equipment for the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.

The company

Since 1969, Belovo has experienced a steady growth of sales and profit re-investment. In 1988, the plant was equipped with drying facilities. Today, Belovo offers a large variety of egg powders. New custom-designed egg powders, egg oil and phospholipids, egg yolk granules and serum, and other new food ingredients are making their first steps on the market.
Consumer concerns about food safety have been taken very seriously under consideration. Studies regarding lipid peroxidation have led to development of stable egg yolk - containing egg powders with very low levels of free radicals. In early 1996, egg white powders were made available in instant form.
Belovo egg products are distributed in more than 50 countries all over the world and benefit from a respected brand name. Each product is carefully analyzed and made sure to comply with strict and tightly controlled pre established specifications. Management at Belovo is based on the ISO 9001 norm. Employees at Belovo conform to HACCP and GMP procedures all integrated into the ISO 9001 system. Management and Executive are developing the TQM approach so as to encompass each individual within the progressive mind of the factory.
Belovo Chemicals started some 25 years ago with the production of lysozyme. Avidin and its derivatives have been sold to the biotech market for more than 15 years. For the last 10 years, belovo Chemicals has fueled its R&D program with food biotechnology projects related to the cracking of the eggs.
Belovo Chemicals presents scientific news on international symposium and exhibition as well as in the patent literature.
The US company Michael Foods has a 25% interest in Belovo S.A. Michael Foods, Inc. is a diversified food processor and distributor with particular interests in egg products, refrigerated grocery products, specialty dairy products and refrigerated potato products. Principal subsidiaries include Papetti's Hygrade Egg Products, Inc., M. G. Waldbaum Company, Crystal Farms Refrigerated Distribution Company, Kohler Mix Specialties, Inc. and Northern Star Co.
